Jeff Corwin July 2001
"Hey Mardi, are you interested in working on the set of the "Jeff Corwin Experience"?" That is how the call started when my friend Chris Harper called me up in the summer of 2001. Needless to say I was eager to have the opportunity and very appreciative that Chris thought of me. After a couple of weeks of conversations we settled on the time, place, and details of what we were going to do. Jeff was wanting to film some intros and out takes for an upcoming show. Chris and I were asked to find a good location and bring the snakes along that would be used in the shoot. Jeff was quite the host and we had an amazing time working with him. The location was in N. Florida and it was very hot and humid during the shoot. Below are some pictures that show us "in action". Enjoy.
Chris drives the golfcart along with quite a few snakes to our secret location in the woods! Mardi Snipes, Jeff Corwin, and Chris Harper holding a Jungle Carpet Python.
Jeff does some takes while Chris gets a Southern Copperhead ready for the next segment.
Jeff puts on the charm for the camera.
One of the shots Jeff was filming was for an Intro clip to be used for one of his Africa episodes. I was in charge of placing the Gaboon Viper in his Director's Chair for the shot.
Jeff lounges about with a nice size Reticulated Python.
Jeff takes a plain brown Elephant Trunk Snake and finds a way to make everyone laugh:-)
We spent one evening on a beautiful Train Car that had been used by several of our past presidents and some celebreties such as Michael Jackson. This is the only picture I have from that evening.
Here is a shot of Jeff and Mardi trying to get a small Albino Monocle Cobra to pose for the camera.
Spending a couple of days with Jeff was a memorable experience and one I won't soon forget. I decided to do a little "herping" after the shoot, so I leave you with this parting shot of my trusty old Jeep on a favorite snakey road:-)
